Kingdoms Inside
I love talent shows. It is always so inspiring and uplifting for me to witness friends exhibiting their talents at these shows. It gives us a chance to get to know each other, sometimes in ways we never did before (partly because of newly discovered talents). It is a moment to savour the beauty of each person.
However, we are more than the sum of our talents. There is so much inside us that wishes to come out. Talent shows give us a chance to observe some of this come out; but we were made to express so much more…

The faces I saw
Gray
The lips I passed
Mute
The reflection I glimpsed
Dull
The words I sought
Silent
After all, life is not here…
…Until I saw a man
Pretending to intertwine ebony with ivory
But really not solely pursuing melodies…
No, he was busy building a dam
Directing rushing waters
To our weary faces
Carrying a trumpet to his lips
Ready to summon that dawn is too near for slumber
Life is here…
At first he revealed emeralds of lush sound
Opals of rhythm flew in
When diamonds of virtuosity came out of his companions
The passers-by, amazed and bejewelled
Sang out Life, LIFE, LIFE!
How could so much come out of the heart of one man?
In each of us,
We hide
So many arias of beauty
Still unbeknownst to us
The vastness of kingdoms
Kingdoms inside.
They are waiting to be discovered,
Befriended,
Ruled,
Loved.
Power unbounded
Pushing against immense walls of guilt
Solid bars of fear
Implacable quiet
RELEASE! Release it…
Let power gush out and unleash others’ freedom…
Who can prove our royal dignity
That we may take up our crowns?
Let the KING bring into being our Kingdoms…
Nay… He has already done it!
Let Him call them out of our hearts and into existence…
His Image and Likeness.
