A Few Good Men
I know many good men, both around me and some of which I have not met in person. Two of the latter are St. Patrick and St. Joseph. I absolutely love them…
St. Patrick has such a spirit of fearlessness. He converted a whole nation to Christianity…on his own! (Well, of course, with the Holy Spirit,…) He had an incredible faith in the Power of God. Here are my favourite excerpts of “St. Patrick’s Breast-Plate”:
“[…] I bind to myself today God’s Power to guide me, God’s Might to uphold me, God’s Wisdom to teach me, God’s Eye to watch over me, God’s Ear to hear me, God’s Word to give me speech, God’s Hand to guide me, God’s Way to lie before me, God’s Shield to shelter me, God’s Host to secure me […]
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ within me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ at my right, Christ at my left […]”
St. Joseph was so extraordinary in his simplicity. He did what no other man did. While it is said that some men won’t ask for directions when they’re lost, he took directions…from an angel…in a dream!…when he thought he knew in which direction he was going…and got up…and did it! That’s it! No stubbornness, no hesitation, no excuse. I have a lot to learn from him…
Joseph is the patron saint of Canada. Since there are also many people of Irish descent in this country, I think it would be really nice to have these two excellent men watch over our country.
May we be enflamed with Love for God, like them…
