Hello Father Dowd. I have a question about the scriptures. It maybe something I should know, but I don’t know the answer. “Why did the Jews need Pilate’s permission to kill Jesus?” They were ready to stone the woman taken in adultery and they stoned the first martyr, Stephen, to death. Why didn’t they just stone Jesus to death?” I know he had to be crucified in order to fulfill the scriptures, but on a human level why was it necessary?
