March For Life 2007 in Ottawa
(From Lifesite.net)
“Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
On May 14th, 1969, abortion was decriminalized in Canada. Since then, over 2,000,000 Canadian children have been killed by abortion. According to Statistics Canada, we can expect approximately 2,822 babies to be aborted weekly. In Canada it is legal to kill a healthy boy or girl within seconds before birth. There are no laws to protect against abortion at any stage of pregnancy. Each day we are called to make choices between life and death. As Christians, we are called to be like Jesus in the world: to give life “abundantly†in a thousand and one ways, and to safeguard, protect and celebrate the dignity of our own lives and the lives of others.
This choice for life grows out of an underlying belief in the inestimable value of all human life. We proclaim that all life is good. As Christians, we believe that life comes from God. Through the prophet Jeremiah, God tells us, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.†(Jer 1:5). We believe that from the beginning, the life of every human being is part of God’s plan. The sacredness of life gives rise to its inviolability, written from the beginning in man’s heart, in his conscience.†(Pope John Paul II). This is why we must unconditionally choose life.
Join many other young people from across Canada on Parliament Hill on May 10th, 2007 to protest against abortion. Let us go in crowds to strongly demand the legal recognition of unborn children. Let us not remain silent towards children who are killed before even seeing the light of day. Show the government that Canada’s youth know that Life is the only choice.”
